Start to finish
Six stages, and we handle all of them
About 2–4 weeks for a clinical visit, and about 6–8 weeks for the full recovery-plus-safari option. The financial model uses a conservative 30-night average.
Screen in the UK
A consultation, a review of your records, and a fit-to-fly assessment — most of it through our telemedicine portal, so you don’t travel to be told no.
Fly to Durban
Flights, transfers and arrival are arranged for you and your companion. You’re met at King Shaka, about fifteen minutes from the hospital.
Treatment
Your procedure at an accredited private hospital, with the pre-operative work-up done in the days beforehand rather than months earlier.
Recover by the ocean
A five-star ocean-front stay with monitored recovery, nursing support and physiotherapy — and the option to add a safari once you’re cleared for it.
Fly home
You travel home only when you’re clinically cleared to fly, with your discharge summary, imaging and medication organised before you leave.
Follow-up in the UK
Structured 30, 60 and 90-day follow-up at home, so you don’t re-enter the NHS queue to be checked over.
What’s included
One price, agreed before you go
Your quote is given in pounds and paid in the UK before you travel, so you’re not sending money abroad and you’re not exposed to the exchange rate moving between quote and surgery.
What isn’t included
Travel insurance, visas where applicable, personal spending, and any additional treatment you choose to add once you’re there. Complications requiring extended care are covered by the terms set out in your written agreement — we will walk you through those before you commit.
Bringing someone with you
The model assumes you travel with a companion, and we plan for two. Recovery is easier with someone there, and it is factored into the accommodation from the start.
Honest answers to the obvious questions
Is it safe?
Our anchor hospital is a recognised regional referral centre with intensive care, a 24-hour emergency department and internationally-trained specialists.Source 1: [1] You are screened before you travel specifically so that unsuitable cases don’t go — and if you are not a good candidate for travel, we will tell you.
What if something goes wrong?
You have in-country medical oversight for the whole stay, alongside the hospital’s own teams, and you don’t fly home until you are clinically cleared to. Your UK follow-up is arranged before you leave, and your records travel with you so your GP has them.
What about cancer, or anything urgent?
If your condition is time-critical, the NHS pathway is usually the right one and we will say so. Where we do support cancer care it is coordinated, MDT-led treatment delivered in step with your home oncology team — never a way to jump a queue.
Am I committing to anything by enquiring?
No. An enquiry gets you an indicative plan and a conversation. Nothing is booked, no payment is taken, and no price becomes real until it is confirmed in writing for your specific case.
